What this notice covers
This notice is about the website. The dental records we hold about you as a patient are covered separately by the practice's patient privacy notice, which the reception team can give you on request. Our professional obligations as a dental practice are set out on our GDC regulations page.
What we collect
When you fill in a form on this site we collect what you type into it. Depending on the form, that is some combination of your name, email address, phone number, whether you are a new or existing patient, the treatment you are interested in, how you would prefer to be contacted, and anything you write in the message box.
If you are a dentist using our referral form, we collect your practice's contact details and the details you give us about the patient you are referring. If you are referring a patient, please make sure they know you are passing their information to us.
If you leave feedback through our feedback page, we collect your rating, what you write, and your name and contact details if you choose to give them.
We also record where your visit came from, if you arrived through a link in an email or an advert, so we can tell which of our pages are useful.
Why we use it, and on what basis
We use what you send us to answer you — to reply to your enquiry, arrange an appointment, or deal with a referral or a piece of feedback. We do this because it is in our legitimate interest to respond to people who contact us, and because it is a necessary step before providing treatment you have asked about.
We only send you marketing — practice news, treatment offers and dental health tips — if you tick the box on the form to say you want it. You can stop it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by emailing us.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of suppliers to run the website and handle what you send us. They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes:
- Surf Pacific, who handle our website forms and pass submissions to us
- ActiveCampaign, who send our marketing emails, if you have asked for them
- Netlify, who host the website
- Google, who provide the analytics that tell us how the site is used, and the maps on our contact pages
Our site also offers a WhatsApp link. If you use it, your conversation is handled by WhatsApp under its own terms, not ours. Reviews shown on this site are published by their authors on Google.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone else except where we are required to by law.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to deal with what you asked about and to keep a proper record of it, and no longer. If you have asked for marketing, we keep your details until you tell us to stop.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it, ask us to limit what we do with it, or object to us using it. Where you have given consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To do any of these, email info@barringtondental.co.uk or write to us at the address above.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we have the chance to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use your information we will update this page and change the date at the top.
